GIFT FROM PRISONER
QUEENSLAND MINISTER The Minister of Health and Home Affairs in Queensland, Mr. E. M. Hanlon, recently received a desk stand of inlaid and polished timbers which came from the prison farm at Palen Creek. It includes ink and pin stands, pen holders, pen rack and ruler, and' s the work of a prisoner in the Brisbane gaol. Mr. Hanlon is the Minister who was responsible for the introduction ot prison farm scheme where - u prisoners are sent under an system. Since the scheme was IU duced, not one ot the prisoners • broken his parole, in spite oi the that the men are not kept undei t stant surveillance and there is even a lock on the doors of the in which they sleep.
