Sir, —The Rev. Walter Avcrill rightly points out that the proposed rents are far too high for old age pensioners to pay, but he should not be surprised that the policy of general inflation adopted by the Government lias resulted in such high costs that necessitate high rentals. As to the "debtfree money" promised by the Prime Minister, the mere writing of figures in a book will not provide the substantial material of which houses must be constructed. W.M.
