ANTHROPOLOGY SECTION PAPERS BY AUTHORITIES What promises to be ail interesting feature of the 14th congress of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science, to be held in Auckland for several days from January 12, will be the papers to be submitted in the anthropology section by authorities from both countries. " The Method of Migration of the Extinct Tasmanian Race" is the title of an address to be given by Mr. C. L. Crowther, honorary physician at the Melbourne General Hospital, who is an authority on the Tasmanian aboriginals, whose fate was total extinction, upon making contact with the civilisation of the white race. Mr. H. 1). Skinner, lecturer in ethnology at the University of Otago and curator of the Otago Museum, will speak on "Foreign Culture Contacts with Polynesia." Mr. Skinner, formerly a member of the council of the English Royal Anthropological Institute, recently returned from an extended tour of England, Sweden and the Continent, where he inspected many museums and gave lectures. Another paper of note will be that by Dr. I'. H. Buck, to be read by Dr. T. Wi Repa, both of whom assisted in carrying on the pioneering work of the late Sir Maui Pomare in overcoming the antipathy of the Maori to the medical science of the white man. Dr. Buck is a distinguished ethnologist now attadu'd to the Bishop Museum at Honolulu.
