UNUSUAL CHARGE
TRIMMER IN COURT LONG SEARCH BY POLICE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CH KI ST C HUR CH, Monday A trimmer, Norman Sutherland, aged 35, formerly of the steamer Waiotapu, who was charged with knowingly instigating the escape of a patient from the Templeton farm school and mental institution on August 26, 1936, appeared in the Magistrate's Court this morning. Ho ivas remanded until December 28. Bail was allowed in accused's own recognisance of £iioo, with one suretv of £;100, on condition that he reported each day to the police. Sub-Inspector Mac Lean asked that bail should be substantial. "It has taken us many months to find this man," he said. " It was only by chance that wo found him on board a ship :it Lyttelton."
