NORTHERN RAILWAY
INTENDED IMPROVEMENTS EASEMENT OF GRADES Although official instructions have not yet been issued from Wellington, it is anticipated that improvements of importance on the northern suburban railway line will be commenced early in the new year. Proposals have been made for the improvement of grades arid curves between Now Lynn and Waitakero, and theso and other recommendations designed to give more efficient service to the public aro nowawaiting approval of headquarters. A work for which plans aro well in hand and which will bo the first to be undertaken will bo tlio easing of tho grade at Scroggy Hill, which at present is one in <lO. This is to be reduced to orio in 60, but there will be no alteration in the Waitakero tunnel. Of importance to motorists is the proposal to eliminate two level crossings, one on tho Titirangi Road near New Lynn and tho other on the scenic drive at Glen Eden. This will be accomplished by an alteration of the grado of tho lino in tho neighbourhood of theso dangerous crossings.
