CAMPING GROUNDS

CAREFUL SUPERVISION ISSUE OF REGULATIONS Close supervision of the establishment and maintenance of camping grounds ! is to bo exercised in future b.y the | camping-ground regulations, which have just been issued under an Ordcr-in-Council. Among other things the regulations provide that no person shall establish such a ground, use any land lor such a purpose, or allow any land to bo used until ho has received a licence to do so from tlio local authority. The identification of the land, the name and address of the owner, and the name and address of the proposed caretaker are among the details required on application for a licence. Included in the requirements demanded for the equipment of the ground are a register of all persons, their location on the ground, the dates of their occupation, the number of persons occupying each site, and the registered number of the motor vehicles admitted to the ground; cooking places of an approved type; an adequate supply of wholesome water; approved drainage and other sanitary arrangements; approved artificial lighting for all entrances and access paths; and a sufficient number of rubbish receptacles. The maximum number of persons or families, or of tents and vehicles to be allowed use of the ground at one time, is provided for in the licence, which is to be hold for a period not exceeding one year. The regulations are to como into operation for any part of New Zealand on publication of notice in the Gazette.
