SEEING ENGLAND
AUCKLANDER'S LONG WALK [from our own correspondent] LONDON, Nov. 4 A retired Auckland businessman, Mr. E. S. Day, who is making a walking tour through England, arrived in Manchester recently. " 1 am not a very rich man, so 1 decided to walk," said Mr. Day, when questioned. " I retired from the hardware and crockery trade on my sixtieth birthday. And last January 1 made myself a New Year resolution to come and see England." Mr. Day certainly has walked. He walked 2000 miles through New Zealand before taking the ship to London, and now he is well on his way to the Scottish border He has never slept under a hedgerow in Lis life, and says he does not feel inclined to try it at his age. But he intends to make £2O pay for his whole month's pilgrimage.
