LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
Howick.—The monthly meeting of tho branch was held in the Howick Hall. Mrs. Mansill presided. The speaker was Mrs. Helen Griffiths, her subject being "A Scottish woman's impression of Honolulu." Afterwards sho gave a short dramatic recital. The afternoon tea hostesses were Mesdames Callender, Holton, Tunstall and Gaulton. Papatoetoe.—Tho last meeting of the year of tho branch was held last week. There was a large gathering of mothers, and visitors from Mangere were warmly welcomed. An interesting talk was given by Mrs. A. Turner, and items were rendered by Miss H. Dulihanty, and Mrs. Sanderson. A competition was won by Mrs. McKeown. Mrs. A. Richardson gave the thought for tho month. Combined Kihikihi Meeting,—A combined meeting of the various branches of the league was held in tho Kihikihi Hall recently, arranged so that members might have an opportunity of meeting the Auckland provincial president, Mrs. S. (). English, and her fellow-officers. Mrs. Marquiss, on behalf of tho Kihikihi president, welcomed Mrs. English and presented lier with a bouquet. Mrs. F. H. Barnett later presided. Mrs. English spoko on tho aims and objects of tho league and Mrs. Sapsworth gave tho thought for tho month. Two solos were rendered by Miss Walters, and the Highland fling, in full national costume, was danced by little Valerie Richards, of To Awamutu. Tho Arapuni branch presented a one-act play, which was much enjoyed. Kihikihi and Crossroads ladies were the hostesses for afternoon tea.
