FORTHCOMING EXHIBITION GRANT FROM GOVERNMENT A Government grant of £.'300 is to be made toward the cost of exhibiting tho collection of Chinese art brought to the Dominion by Captain G. Hutn-phreys-Davies, according to advice received from the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, at a meeting of the council of the Auckland War Memorial Museum yesterday. In addition, tho Carnegie Corporation has provided £2OO to print a catalogue. The collection, which has been lent by British collectors, comprises over 300 examples of Chinese art. precious porcelain, pottery, bronzes and jades, and will be exhibited in the four centres. The exhibitions will be arranged by the board of trustees of the National Art Gallery and Dominion Museum, and the council yesterday proposed Captain Humphreys-Davies as honorary curator. As a result of the grants it will not be necessary to charge for admission.
