An anticyclone extends from Kastern Australia on to the Xorth Tasman. Forecast' Moderate to strong northerly winds, of gale force at places, hacking to westerlies and temporarily in ninny places to south-westerly. Seas rough generally Kastern Tasman Sea: South-westerly to westerly winds, strong to gale, witii rough to liigli sr-as. The weather jg liki-ly to he changeable and squallv with rain in most parts and some heavi falls, more; especially in districts with a westerly aspect. .Thunder and hail are probable in places. Temperatures becoming colder. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FOKECAST UNSETTLED AND SQUALLY The Government meteorologist issued to the Hkr.u.d last evening the follow, ing special forecast for the Auckland Province:—-Strong northerly to westerly winds, backing to south-wester-lies. The weather is likely to be 'unsettled and squally, with rain at time* and some heavy falls, and possibiv thunder in places. Sea.s rough. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —The weather was tetT boisterous and wet yesterday. Showers were experienced in the morning arid | evening and continuous heavy rain during the afternoon. The atmosphere was cooler, the temperature at 4 p.n, being 62deg., compared with 68deg. cn Tuesday. The barometer fell slowly until early in the evening and afterward it was steady. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.80 n. Midnight, Tuesday . .. 30.05,n! Wellington.—The day was cloudy and squally, with rain at times.* Tj le strong north-west wind reached gale force. The maximum temperature was 63deg. Christchurch. —A fine and warm div was experienced, although the sky was overcast in the morning. The maximum temi>erature was 74.5 deg. There wag a fresh north-cast breeze in the mowing and 'a strong north-west wind j n the afternoon. The barometer fell to 29.40 in. Dunedin. —It was very warm, although the sky was overcast for the greater part of the day, the maximum temperature being 7;idcg. Hain fell early in the evening.
