RESIDENT OF EPSOM MARRIED WOMAN'S LUCK THE WINNER OF £2OOO "A WELCOME WINDFALL" It was a married woman and a regular purchaser of art union tickets who won the first prize of £2OOO in the "Win a Lot"- draw, Mrs. Alp*. ("Sandy") Spence. of 2a Claude Road' Kpsom. Although she knew on Moriday night that she was the lurky ticket-holder her identity remained a secret, except among a few intimate friends, until yesterday. "My husband and I experienced our share of bad luck during the depression, but our luck seems to have changed, and I may say our little windfall is extremely welcome," J[ rg Spence said. "I always have a ticket iri every art union, and have not missed buying one for years, because when passing ticket sellers I have thought i might be walking away from £2OOO. My husband also buys tickets regularly, but neither of us has ever won so much as one of the smallest prizes in the past. "On the Tuesday before the art union closed," Mrs. Spence continued, "I was in town to visit a dentist, and afterward, while I was .still suffering considerable pain from my teeth, I decided to buy mv ticket from a Queen Street seller. He wished me luck aud 1 said 1 hoped 1 would have it. "When 1 heard the result I was overjoyed, although my husband said there might be dozens of people in New Zealand with the same nom-de-plume. But there is no mistaking the number," said Mrs. Spence, exhibiting the ticket, and asking the reporter how it felt to hold "a £2OOO note." Mr. and Mrs. Spence. who have nc family, said they had made no plans for the immediate future. Mr. Spence, who is a barman at the Ponsonby Club Hotel, said he had been grateful to get work, and intended to continue in his occupation.

THIRD PRIZE TO GIRL MORRINSViLLE RESIDENT [from oub own correspondent] MORKINSVILLE, Tuesday A 10-year-old girl. Emily Robinson, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. F, Robinson, of Swamp Road, Tauhei, about five miles from Morrinsville, won the third prize of £2OO in the "Win A Lot" art union. The girl did not knovr of her good fortune until she was told by neighbours.
