REPLY BY MINISTER APPOINTMENT CONTROVERSY MR. S. G. HOLLAND'S ATTACK [llY TF.r.KOH A I'll I'HF.SS ASSOCIATION*] ('II RISTCII IiKCII, Tuesday "For Mr. Holland to try to convince the public that I would lie about any man is more than ho can do. The people know I attack with truth. 1 may be hard and my words may sting and hurt, but I do not indulge in lying." This statement was made today by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. K. Soniplo, in reply to that made by Mr. S. CI. Holland, M.P. for Christchiirch North, yesterday. After reiterating the statement that several members of the Opposition had expressed regret at tho action of Mr. Holland raising in tho House of Bepresentai ves the question of the appointment of Mr. Semple's son as a traffic inspector, Mr. Seniple said he would never accuse Mr. Forbes or Mr. Coates of descending to the level of attacking him in that way, nor would he accuse Mr. Hamilton, the present National leader. "Their conception of clean fighting and political morality is above that," said Mr. Seniple. "1 expect that kind of stuff from political infants and individuals with unbalanced minds."
