FETE AT MOUNT ROSKILL
A garden fete was held on Saturday afternoon at the residence of Airs. E. J Taylor, "Handsworth," Mount Roskill, in aid of St. Margaret's Church. The fete was opened by Mrs. I]. de L. Willis, who was presented with a bouquet. Shortly after the opening. Father Christmas arrived and presided at tho Christmas tree, which was a source of much enjoyment to tho childreii. The stnlis were sot 111 the £iounds among the shrubs, and tennis and clock golf were enjoyed by tho young people. Although tho afternoon was somewhat showery, many people were present and the church funds will benefit by about £SO. , , Tho stallholders were: —Plain work stall, Alesdames Unsworth and Brand; fancv stall, Alesdames Randrup and Hudson; cakes, Alesdames ingford, Giles, Jndd and Aliss Kcano; produce, Alesdames ]/cahv and Howe, Miss Leahy; Christmas tree, Alesdames Cromwell and Coylc; sweets, Misses Taylor, Vickerv, King and Gentles; ice cream, Alessrs! W. and H. Cromwell; afternoon tea, Alesdames Colby, Clark, White, Franklin, Tills, Ritchie, Alisscs Franklin, Hendcr and Gibbons. Afternoon tea was served in the largo sun porch, which was decorated with azaleas, shirley poppies and pot. plants.
