RAILWAYMEN'S SOCIAL
[FROM OUR OWN CORHESI'pXDKXT] HAMILTON, Monday Members of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants assembled at Frankton on Saturday evening to celebrate the introduction of the 40-hour week. The function was presided over by Mr. C. F. Wright, and the guest of honour was Mr. C. A. Barrell, M.P During the evening several speakers referred to the efforts made by the Labour movement to secure reduced hours for workers. The ceremonial of burying the "48-hour" week Was carried out. to the accompaniment of appropriate music.
