MILK PRODUCERS
PROTEST AGAINST PRICES COUNCIL'S FIXATION SCHEME Resentment nt the action of tlic Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council in reducing the price to bo paid a producer from lOd to 9Jd a gallon was expressed by a number of speakers at a representative meeting of producers held in the Pnkuranga Hnll last night. The meeting was called by the Pakuranga Town Milk Producers' Association, and was addressed by Messrs. A. (J. Trousdale and J. S. Montgomery, producers' representatives on the Milk Council. After Mr. Trousdale and Mr. Montgomery had explained how the new prices' had been fixed by the council, a number of speakers expressed dissatisfaction with the reduction in price to the producers. It was claimed that the council had been created to give producers the cost of production, but actually tho very opposito was the case. When the recent reduction in tho price to be paid producers was made, it was at the request of the vending interests, regardless of the rapidly rising costs of the producers. Tho meeting decided to call a conference of all town milk producing interests, and to recommend that an ap--1 peal be lodged against tho new fixation I of prices.
