FAIR TO FINE AMD. MILD RAIN IN SOUTH ISLAND The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows:—An anti-cyclone of moderate intensity is crossing the Dominion today, with its centre over the North Island, while a rather intense depression covers the western Tasmau Sea and is moving eastward. Forecast: Winds light to moderate and variable at first, hut north-easterly to northerly soon prevailing, and freshening to-morrow, especially about and south of Cook Strait. Seas in New Zealand waters slight to moderate, but later rising south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong northcast to northerly winds, increasing in places to gale force. _ Seas becoming rough. The weather is likely to ba fair t.o fine, and becoming milder, but cloud increasing and rain developing to-morrow in the western and southern districts of tho South Island, later conditions becoming more generally unsettled. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FAIR, WITH RAIN LATER The Government meteorologist issued to the Hkballj last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province:—Light to moderate easterly winds, backing to northerlies and freshening. The weather is likely to be fair and warmer, but skies clouding over on Tuesday and later rain developing. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Ideal summer weather J prevailed yesterday. The wind was very light and variable and the sun wag shining all day out of nn almost cloudless sky. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 67 degrees. The barometer rose .05in. during the 21 hours.
