NOTED CHILD DANCER
LONDON TEACHER'S INTEREST . [from ovr own correspondent] LONDON*. Oct. 17 The voung Wellington dancer. Babe W itts-Burt, who left a few months ago for England, is now a pupil of Madame Lydia Kyasht, the famous Russian danReuse, who made her first stage appear- i ance at the Opera House, Leningrad, in The little girl went to a class with , some friends, and at the end of the afternoon ; Madame Kyasht, perceiving! in her a dancer of undoubted promise, j asked her questions and was much! interested to learn that she came from ! New Zealand. Communication with Mrs. de Roland-Burt followed, and Madame Kyasht predicted a successful future for her daughter. "Undoubtedly she will | make a great name for herself," she i added. Negotiations were satisfactorily completed for her to become a pupil of_ this eminent danseuse and Miss Babe WittsBurt is now very busy and very happy working all day long. Under her dancing instructress, she is taking, among other subjects, ballet, classical ballet, production, character, make up, tap dancing, and musical comedy. She is having private lessons in addition to class instruction. Her general education is in the hands of a Cambridge University teacher, and includes French, literature and nature studies, so she is engaged in some branch of education I from morning to night under the super- j vision of her mother. Madame Lydia j „ Kyasht, being interested in the talented j" child, and feeling confident about her ultimate success, has made specially reduced terms. When Mrs. de Roland-Burt and her daughter arrived in London it was just; before vacation time, and a vacation lasts two months. It was necessary for lier to make enquiries about the most , suitable instructor and most of the leading dancing schools were visited. All j these things take time in London.
