MUSIC LOVERS' CLUB
The final meeting for the season of the Music Lovers' Club was held in tho rooms of tho Overseas League on Tuesday evening, and was largely attended by members and friends. The programme presented included in the first part an illustrated talk by the president, Mr. Walter linpotfc, on tho Irish folk songs, as collected and arranged with modern harmonies by Herbert Hughes, tho acknowledged leading authority on this branch of music. The interest in the subject was enhanced by the solo numbers, which included "Down by the Sally Gardens," sung by Miss Eileen Yeoman, and "0 Breathe Not His Name" and "Savourneen Deelish, 4 ' rendered by Mr. Alfred Porter. Enjoyable vocal quartettes wore Mr. Hughes' new arrangements of tho airs "Norah O'Neale," "The Valley Lay Smiling" and "Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms," sung by Mesdames H. Reffel, H. Kersey, Messrs. J. Simpson and J. Bond. The second part of tho evening was devoted to a well-varied programme contributed by Miss Lois Shortland, Mr. Stanley Moorcroft, Miss Vivienno Scott, Miss Eileen Yeoman, Mrs. Frank Harris, Mr. Fred Walker, Mrs. Norman Dimerv, and Mr. Q. Robinson. The accompanists -*vero Mrs. 0. Hyde, Miss Lois Shortland and Mr. Walter Impett. A violin obligate was also played by Mr. Norman Dimery.
