As he lias no immediate engagements, Toolcy Street is beinp allotted only the lightest of tasks. His Canterbury Cup success yesterday brought Wild Chase's record to 17 starts Jor nine wins, six minor placet «uh] IM-M5 in stakes. An hereditary knee weakness may cut short the career of Wild Chase, but while he can keep going he will pay his way. Gesture, the dam of Omarere, died recently when foaling to Croupier. As a two-year-old, the mare won eio-ht races on end, including the Great Northern Foal Stakes, Manawatu Sires' I roduee Stakes and Canterbury Champagne Stakes. After winning tho Foal Stakes and £](sls, she was sold by Mr. A. F. Symcs to Mr. 11. J. Murphy for 2000 guineas. As a three-year-old, she did not win and at four years she won twice against weak fields and was placed on four other occasions. Omarere, now a three-year-old, was offered as a yearling at the National Sales but was passed in at iiuO guineas. Later he was sent by his breeder, Mr. Murphy, to Australia, where he won two races.
