RAILWAY TRADESMEN
BIENNIAL CONFERENCE [BY TELEGRAPH —rRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The biennial confcronco of tho Bailway Tradesmen's Association was opened by Mr. G. 11. Maekley, general manager of railways, who expressed appreciation of tho co-operation and goodwill displayed by the association's oflicers in negotiations with respect to the introduction of a 40-hour weok.
The Minister of Railways, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, who visited the conference, stated that next year tho Government intended introducing a national superannuation scheme which would be much in advance of anything of that nature attempted in any part of tho world. Mr. Sullivan said lie was endeavouring to see that the railways were supplied with the best possible equipment and had the best possible conditions, thereby enabling tho service to be given its full and economic position in the Dominion.
