CLOSING OF SEASON MANUKAU TO PLAY RICHMOND FINAL FOR PHELAN SHIELD With tho exception of junior coinpetition finals the Rugby League season in Auckland will be officially closed to-morrow afternoon, when some fine games should bo witnessed at Carlaw Park. Tho principal attraction, the champion of champions, between Manukau, winner of the championship and I\ oo]>e Rooster knock-out, and Richmond, runner-up in tho championship, is expected to provide one of the most thrilling games of the season. In tho championship series Manukau beat Richmond in the first round, but the latter reversed the decision in tho second round. The teams did not meet in tho Roope Rooster contests. Manukau is a strong all-round team, but will he extended by Richmond, which lias played some fine football during tho season. As a curtain-raiser the final of the Phclan Shield ' will be decided between Marist and Ponsonby and this ganio should be fast and open. The former has shown improvement in recent matches, but tho Ponsonby rearguard is always a dangerous combination on a dry ground. Tho final of the senior grade B competition for tho Stallard Cup will ho decided on tho No. 2 ground, botwoon Marist and Richmond, at threo o'clock. Lower grade competitions will bo continued. Following are tho teams:— PONSONBY Senior Grade.—Stockley, .Tones, Pengally, McKinncy, Kay, Halloran, Mack, Middleton, Leatherbarrow, Carter, Morgan, Daws, Brown, Phillips, Carr, Blood. ALTERATION TO FIXTURES Owing to the Outer Domain being unavailable for matches to-morrow, the Auckland Rugby League yesterday rearranged several fixtures as follows: — Third Grade. —Manukau v. Point Chevalier, 3 p.m., Grey Lynn Park, Mr. J. Ronton. Seventh Grade. —City Rovers v. Richmond, 1.45 p.m., Grey Lynn Park, Mr. A. Smith. Senior Schoolboys.—Richmond v. Ponsonby, 12.30 p.m., Grey Lynn Park, Mr. E. Butt. House Match. —Garland's v Sweetacre's, 11 a.m., Grey Lynn Park, Mr. E.
