RIOTS AT GIBRALTAR
BRITISH REFUGEES' PROTEST GOVERNOR ADVISES RETURN GIBRALTAR, Sept. 11 Fourteen British subjects were to-day remanded in Court at Gibraltar, following the disorders yesterday, as a result of the authorities' decision to close the camp for British refugees from the Spanish civil war zone. The homeless refugees assembled at House to protest. The police dispersed them, after the fire brigade had demonstrated with hoses.
The Governor, Sir Charles Harrington. advised the refugees to return to their undamaged homes at La Linea, where conditions were quiet. He promised them protection in the event of further warfare.
