Further light has been thrown oil the origin of the Tasmanian aborigines by the discovery in a gravel pit of a greenstone adze, which strengthens th< theory that the Tasmanian nativt originally came from New Caledonia The shape of the adze is typically New Caledonian, and possibly is a relic ot the first aborigines who reached Tasmania.
