SKI MEETING
WIND TOO STRONG FURTHER POSTPONEMENT DOUBT AS TO COMPLETION [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] THE CHATEAU, Monday Heavy snow and an exceedingly strong wind caused a further postpone-; ment of the inter-Dominion ski meet- ' ing at Ruapehu to-day. The weather | cleared in the afternoon and there | were several hours of sunshine, hut tho wind continued to blow with unabated j force, hurling down from the mountain ' large quantities of fino snow, which i penetrated clothing and goggles and struck the face with stinging force. In spite of the extra week which the Australian team has stayed on it now appears doubtful whether the contest can be completed, unless fine weather is experienced from now on, as the Australians must leave on Thursday night. The new fall of snow has produced good ski-ing conditions about the Chateau. There arc several inches of new snow on top of that which previously fell, and the wind has given it a hard surface, so that good sport can be enjoyed on tho golf course. Several skiers had fine runs by holding a blanket between them and letting it act as a sail. The barometer has been below 30 inches for more than a fortnight and has frequently been under 29.5 inches. It registered 29.8 inches this evening and was rising.
