Sept. 5 A cricket match between members of the Marylebone team which is to tour Australia and Mr. Leveson Gower's eleven was begun to-day at Scarborough in fine weather and on a good wicket. The Marylebone team in the first innings made 397 runs for nine wickets. Holmes, whom business prevented from going to Australia,

replaced Voce, who could not turn out.

After a shaky start in which five of the Marylebone wickets fell for 65, J. Hardstaff made a stand which realised 164 in 115 minutes. Holmes made his third century for the season and batted for 185 minutes. A. It. LONDON, Sept. 4, In the match between the Indian touring team and an English eleven, the visitors in their first innings scored 372 (Wazirali 155 not out). Robins took eight wickets for 105. England scored 212 for three wickets and declared (Wool ley 79, Ames 107). In the second innings India lost one wicket for 152 (Merchant 64 not out, Hussain 69 not out). The match was drawn.

Ames reached his century in 68 minutes, this breaking the Oxford University player R. C. M. Kimpton'a record of 70 minutes for the season's fastest century. Ames hit one six and 13 fours.

MARYLEUONE BEATEN YORKSHIRE TEAM'S WIN LONDON, Sept. 4 Marylebone to-day, in the match against Yorkshire, scored 186 .runs (Huttoii four i'or 25). .They followed'on and scored 160 (Verity five for 41). Hutton bowled four wickets for 52. Yorkshire, which had scored 441 in its first innings, won by an innings and 95 runs.
