AWAPUNI ACTIVITIES HORSES FOR WANGANUI [by telegraph—own correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Sunday Although overhead conditions showed ft marked improvement this morning, the heavy state of the course proper induced several trainei's to use the plough, which was firm on the surface. St. Clara, who has built up into a very' solid-looking mare since joining W. Pine's team, ran the last two of throe furlongs on the plough in 275. Dungarvan ran half a mile on the same track in 52 3-ss. He is in splendid order. •'.« . Dawning Light, a Wanganui Guineas candidate, strode over half a mile, the last three furlongs in 40'4-os. Cloudy Bay, who also claims engagements at Wanganui, covered a round on tho plough, the last six furlongs being covered in a tick under 1.21. The first pair to gallop on the course proper, the flags being wide out, were Finnesko and Laggard. They jumped away at the five furlongs to conte homo the last three in 435. Finnesko appeared to have much tho better of tilings. Taumau had the measure of Lady Ina over five furlongs in 1.11. The latter is now a six-year-old.
