FORGERY CHARGE
REMAND IN CUSTODY [by telegraph—PßESS association] DUNEDIN. Sunday The central figure in the recent £30,000 Irish sweepstake episode, Ernest Arthur Tremere Johnstone, appeared in the Police Court this morning, charged with forging a cheque for £3O, purporting to be drawn by A. Pirie, on the Bank of New Zealand, at Milton, with intent that it should be acted on as genuine. He was remanded in custody until Wednesday, the police stating that he had been granted probation on another charge.
