LOAN TO RUGBY UNION
AUCKLAND TEAM'S EXPENSES OFFER NOW FREE OF INTEREST [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] DUNEDIN, Monday The offer of a loan of £IOO by.the Otago Rugby Union toward the expenses of the Auckland touring team was briefly discussed by the Otago management' committee to-night in view of Auckland's rejection of the loan because a charge of 4 per cent interest had been imposed. Strong criticism was expressed of the action of the Auckland Rugby Union committee in taking the matter in open meeting, it being pointed out that all correspondence from Auckland on the subject had been marked, "strictly confidential." It was decided 1o offer Auckland the loan of £IOO free of interest. The president, Dr. Perry, said it would be a graceful action to do this and to leave it to the Auckland union to say whether it would accept this offer or not.
