The master gavo a review of tho season's hunting in tho Waikato. Hounds woro thrown off on Mr. A. .1. Swayne's property They ran well to a fairly keen scent, and in tho heavy going thero were several excellent chases. Ono killwas registered, tut with tho country well saturated by rain, hounds: wero called off early in tho day. Hunting was practically confined to the hills on Mr; Swayne's property. ■ The field returned to Ngahoke, where tho master and Mr. ami Airs. Ned Brown entertained a largo gathering at afternoon tea. " Hospitality is traditional with hunting," said tho Rev. C W. Chandler, in proposing the toast of the hosts and hostess. In wishing tho mast', a happy holiday, he said he felt sure Mr. Wynn Brown would worthily represent New Zealand sport in England. Tho master recalled the good sport experienced during the season and referred to the hel» giv»»p to hunting by the farmers of the district.
Mr. Ned Thrown also returned thanks on behalf of himself and Mrs. Brown, and assured tho gathering; that ho would do his best, for the sport in tho absence of his father' ! . . , Tho master then proposed tho toast of tho farmers. . , In roply, Mn J. 8. Fishor said tho farmers all realised that tho hunt was a fiuo asset to tho district _ . . ... The season will conclude on Saturday with' tho point-to-point steeplechaso over Mr. A. J. Swayne's property at Fencourt.
