BRITISH DRAMA LEAGUE
PROGRESS DURING YEAR Kncouracing progress was reported at the fourth annual mectinu of the Auckland area of the Xew Zealand branch of the British Drama League, hold <it the rooms, of the Penwomen's Club last evening. In the absence through illness of the retiring president. Dr. J. \V. Craven, Colonel W. D. Brittain presided. In her report., the secretary, Miss M. Karl, drew attention to th-> satisfactory state of the finances, an overdraft at tho commencement of the year having been converted to a bank balance of more than £'3o The work of the performers in all the plays staged by the league had been of a uniformly high standard. For the first time, Auckland members had travelled out of the city, giving assistance and advice in various country districts at the special request of the eonntrv enthusiasts.
Mr J. D Swan was elected president. Dr Craven. Colonel Brittain 3 and Mr A Goodwin were elected .vicepresidents. and Dr. W S. Dale, Mr, J. H. Harvey and Mrs. J. Terry were added to the committee.
