FEWER BIRTHS IN AUGUST MARRIAGES ALSO DECLINE Although there have been more births, deaths and marriages in Auckland tor the first eight months of this year than during tho corresponding period of 1935, there were fewer births and marriages in August than in August, 1935. There were only 166 marriages in August, compared with 182 in tho corresponding month a year ago, but the total for the eight months is 1684, against 1473. Marriages performed by the registrar during August number 40, the same as in the previous year, while for the eight months' period the total is 380, against 300. Births during August numbered 199, compared with 210, but for tho first eight months there were 1740, compared with 1629. There wore 210 deaths in August, an increase of 30 on the previous August, while since the beginning of tho year there have been 1379 against 1253.
