OBITUARY

MR. T. T. FRASER The death occurred in Auckland on Saturday of Mr. Theodore 'l'inne Fraser, at the age of 06. Born in Auckland in 1869, the late Mr. Fraser was educated at the Welleslev Street primary school and also at the Auckland Grammar School. He later served his apprenticeship to the engineering trade in bis father's works, the Phoenix Foundry, which is now carried on by his brothers under the name of George Fraser and Sons. Mr. Fraser was for several years engaged in mining in the Kuotunu and Coroinandel districts and later in Australia. For a long period following the introduction of the linotype into New Zealand, Mr. Fraser was employed as linotype engineer on tho staff of the New Zealand Herai.d, and he assisted to install the first ninohincs. For the past i'O years he had been associated with bis brothers in the firm of George Fraser and Sons. He was connected with Presbyterian Churches at Devonport, Bavswater and Titirangi. Mr. Fraser's wife died three years ago. He is survived by three daughters, of whom two are nursing in England and tho third is a missionary nurse in Australia. There is one son, who resides in Auckland. MR. R. J. BOOTH The death of Mr. Richard James Booth has occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. Cunnold, of Mount Eden. The late Mr. Booth, who was in his 93rd year, enjoyed good health until a short time before his death. He came to New Zealand with his parents in the sailing ship Matnoka in 1865. He saw service in the Maori wars in the Waikato and later settled at Kohekohe, where lie was engaged in farming for nearly JlO years. Since the death of his wife some years ago, Mr. Booth had resided with his daughter first at Onewhero and later at Mount Eden. He is survived by his daughter, four grandchildren and six great-grand-children. MR. WILLIAM GARLAND WOON [bv telegraph—OWN correspondent] WANGANUI, Sunday The death occurred at Makmkiri, Wanganui River, to-day of Mr. William Garland Woon, a retired sheepfarmcr, aged 85. Born in Wellington, Mr. Woon spent his early manhood in Auckland, where he occupied various positions on the administrative staff of the old Provincial Government, under Sir George Grey. He took a keen interest in Rugby and cricket, and represented Auckland Province in the early days in both branches of sport. In the 'eighties he moved to Wanganui, where he took up farming at Haorikia. He was one of the early members of tho Wanganui Rowing Club. Mr. Woon married Miss Ada Newell, of New Plymouth, and is survived by Mrs. Woon and three daughters. MR. F. MORTON [from ouu own correspondent] WH ANG A R EI, Sa turda y The death occurred suddenly at Whangarei last evening of Mr. Frank Morton, aged 77 years. Mr. Morton was born in Derbyshire, and camo to New Zealand at the age of 25. For many years he worked as an orchardist in Whangarei, later acquiring a property of his own, combining citrus growing with dairy farming. He retired from active work about 15 years ago. Ho was for many years a keen cricketer and on several occasions represented Whangarei. In 1887 he married Miss Margaret Campbell, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Campbell, of Takapuna. He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.
