RUNAWAY AEROPLANE
GIRL'S COURAGEOUS ACT FATAL CRASH IN DESCENT PARIS, August 14 Amazing courage was shown b.y a 13-year-old girl, Colette Loup, who crashed in a runaway aeroplane at Angouleme aerodrome and later died in hospital. The aeroplane was started in flight by a pilot who swung the propeller without first blocking the wheels. The girl, who was alone in the machine, took over the controls. Although it was •only her third ilight she kept the machine in tlio air near the aerodrome for half an hour, thus avoiding a crash in a thickly populated area. A pilot from the aerodrome went up in another machine and signalled to the girl to descend. She attempted to do so, but crashed on the aerodrome. She was taken to hospital fatally injured.
