FIREMEN'S COMPETITIONS
MATAMATA BRIGADE [from our own correspondent] MATAMATA, Sunday The annual two-men and one-man competitions were held by the Matamata Volunteer Fire Brigade yesterday afternoon, the following being the results:—Two men wet event, Foreman A. Goodwin and Fireman J. Sorrenson, 425, 1; Firemen R. Vincent and C. Lowrie, 42 l-ss, 2; Firemen It. Tong and T. McLeay, 465, 3. One-man dry event (handicap): Fireman It. Vincent, 6s handicap, 1; Fireman C. Lowrie, 4s, 2; Fireman R. Tong, ss, 3. Heavy rain had made the ground too wet for fast times.
