ROYAL NAVY'S WORK EVACUATING NATIONALS MORE THAN 3000 TO DATE British Wireless RUGBY, August 13 It is revealed that since the emergency in Spain arose. 3078 persons, lip to yesterday, had been evacuated by vessels operating under the direction of the British Navy. TJiis total comprised 1213 men, 1395 women and 470 children. The majority were nationals of 39 foreign countries. British nationals removed from Spain comprised 542 men, 722 women and 20$ child ren. These figures include all persons evacuated to Marseilles, also those who were taken on board the home-ward-bound liner City of Hongkong. A report has been received from the British Consul at Seville regarding foreign nationals in Granada, which is in the hands of the insurgents, and is invested by Government troops. An agreement has been secured with both sides in the civil war, as a result of which arrangements have been made for the evacuation of 200 foreigners by aeroplane. The first aeroplane will leave Seville to-day and is due back there tonight. Among the 200 there are known to be 11 British subjects who wish to be evacuated. ENVOY TO HOLY SEE REFUSAL TO RESIGN QUARREL WITH HIS STAFF ROME, August 13 A quarrel similar to that of Tuesday last in the Spanish Embassy in Pome, when two successive loyalist Ambassadors were forced by rebel supporters to sign their resignations and depart for Paris, has broken out in the Embassy to the Holy See, situated in the Piazza di Spagna, Pome. The Ambassador. Senor Zulueta. formerly Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, is proving a tougher nut than did Senor Aguinnga. Ho is determined neither to resign nor to quit his residence, and is holding out in one portion of his Embassy while his counsellor and first secretary, neither of whom favour the Madrid Government and have resigned their posts, hold out in another part of the same building.
