NATIONAL PARTY
AUCKLAND ORGANISATION ELECTION OF OFFICERS The first meeting of the Auckland Provincial Executive of the New Zealand National Party, under the now constitution, was held at the party headquarters yesterday. Mr. Lisle Alderton presided, and there were delegates from 20 electorates. Sir George Wilson, Dominion president, was present, and there were also representatives from the women's and junior organisations.
The election of officers resulted as follows: —Chairman, .Mr. Lisle Alderton; representatives to Dominion council. Messrs. Vernon Reed, John Allen. G. Mills, C. George and F. W. Doidge. A scheme of group organisation tras discussed and adopted, and plans were also approved for a membership campaign. The meeting resolved to write to each member of the Opposition, cornmending the efforts of the party for its resistance to uneconomic legislation brought forward by the Labour Party. A remit for consideration of the Dominion Council was approved as folioirs: "The party realises the necessity for strengthening the Empire's defences. It supports the fulfilment of the Dominion's obligations agreed to at the Imperial Conferences and would be party to similar future agreements. It appreciates that all three services, the Navy, Army and Air Force, are equally essential and interdependent; that the is the first line of defence and must be supported to the fullest; that further expansion of the local Air Farce is essential; and that, as a result of & period of trenchant economy, there is urgent necessity to bring the land forces up to a standard of fitness to meet our obligations."
