FRENCH BATTLEFIELDS
WAR VETERANS' VISIT KING EDWARD'S HORSE DOMINION MEMBERS (Received August 9, 0.35 p.m.) LONDON, August 8 A party of veterans of King Edward's Horse, through the ranks of which 2000 men from the Dominions passed at the time of the Great War, recently made a pilgrimage to the battlefields in France, led by Colonel George Gray Russell, formerly of New Zealand. The pilgrims attended a service at the regimental memorial stone at Vieillo Ghappelle, where the regiment made a heroic stand at the battle of Lys in 1918. Colonel Lionel James has informed the Australian Associated Press that it is hoped shortly to reconstitute the regiment, as it carries the name of the present King.
