MOUNTED RIFLES
BALL AT WHANGAREI [from our own* correspondent] WHANGAREI, Saturday The annual ball of the North Auckland Mounted Bifles is regarded as one of the most successful social functions of the season. This year's event, however, eclipsed those of previous years, proving most delightful to the large number of people who gathered in the Town Hall, Whangarei, on Wednesday evening. The hall presented a very picturesque scene, with the walls of the vestibule covered with native bush greenery. From the ceiling of the dancing hall hung hundreds of small flags of various colours, and along the walls was massed a profusion of native shrubs and fern. The colourful uniforms of the officers and men and the beautiful frocks of the ladies made a bright and most attractive scene. A sit-down supper was sc ved on the stage, and during the evening trophies won at the annual camp were presented by Colonel W. It. Lang, commanding o lficer. Included among those present were:— Mrs. W. It. Lang, Mrs. H. M. Foster, Mrs. E. V. Fry, Mrs. J. A. S. Mackay, Mrs. J. H. Garland, Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. J. W. Atkinson, Mrs. E. M. Mackereth, Mrs. D. A.
