FARMERS AT WAIHI

FIRST ANNUAL BALL The first annual ball, hold last week by the A\ ai 11 i branch of the Now Zealand Farmers' Union, was a successful function in every way. The hall had boon beautifully decorated in the union colours of blue, gold and white, with the walls screened with nikaus, lycopodiunis and wattle. The stage had been arranged with a border of ferns interspersed wjtli daffodils and Iceland poppies. The badges of the Farmers' Union and the Women's Division formed an eileetivc background and mirrors in the hall reflected the gay frocks of the dancers. The supper room was decorated similarly to the main hall, the Wailii branch of the Women's Division being in charge of the supper arrangements. The president of the local branch of the Farmers' Union, Mr. Blackrnore, with Mrs. Blackrnore, received the guests, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Wailii, Mrs. Donovan, president of the Thames Valley provincial executive of the Women's Division, and visitors from Waikino, Putaruru, Okoroire, Katikati, Matatoki and Ngarua. The grand march was led by Mr. Blackrnore and the Mayoress, Mrs. W. Wallnutt.
