DANCE AND CARD PARTY
FUNCTION AT HUNTLY ; A carnival dance and card party to celebrate the visit to Huntly of the English Rugby League touring team was held in the Huntly Town Hall on Thursday evening under the auspices of the South Auckland Ptigbv League. There was a large attendance of local supporters, and visitors were present from Auckland, Hamilton, Pukemiro and Glen Afton. Much disappointment was felt at the non-arrival of tho English team. This, however, was duo to three players having been injured during the match that day, and it was considered advisable that they should receive as much rest as possible in view of the test match in Auckland.
The scheme of decoration was carried out with red, white and blue streamers intermingled* with balloons of the same colours, which were festooned across the ceiling, making an attractive setting for the dancers. Mr. J. Mcnzies, of Ngaruawahia, was in charge of the floor arrangements. The winners at euchro were: Ladies, Mrs. A. Brooks 1, Mrs. T. Swarbrick 2 ; gentlemen, Mr. Peter Taly 1, Mr. Claude Landon 2.
