NOTES FROM EVERYWHERE TRACK AND STABLE GOSSIP None of the riders engaged in the Grand National Steeplechase has yet won the race. Legatee has been leased by Mr. E. N. Fitzgerald, Gisborne, from Messrs. H. H. and N. Smith. Legatee displayed high promise as a two-year-old, but ho has failed to reach expectations. Glen Abb, a three-year-old gelding by Silvias from La Chan tense, who was broken in last year and turned out after being in work for u brief period, has rejoined R. S. Bagby's team at Ellerslie.

Privy Seal has been withdrawn from the Avondale Stakes, to be decided at the Avondale Jockey Club's Spring Meeting next month. Privy Seal is trained at Te Awamutu and has shown speed in the short sprints sho has been been allotted. Mr. G. J. Barton, Dunedin, contemplates sending Cherry Queen to Captain Bunsby in the hope of getting a near relation to Jack Horner. Cherry Queen is a half-sister by Diacquenod to Jack Horner, who has lately been proving himself one of the best young stayers in Victoria. J. N. McGregor, former cross-country jockey, had his rifjht arm broken in an accident at Caulfield last month. McGregor had just prepared First Edition for his work and led him from his stall. The colt lashed out and kicked McGregor on the arm. McGregor is now fnrnni.nn lit H, Coiisen's stable. As a jockey, McGregor had practically every bone in his body broken. Four women have recently registered now racing colours with the conference. There are women trainers in both islands, while two clubs of metropolitan status have women secretaries One may expect a further invasion of the fair sex into the sport; in Australia there is a woman handicapper, and in several countries there are races for women jockeys. Aga Khan's racing career has ended and he has been presented to a Mangaweka resident as a hack, lie was first trained in the Waikato by M. Carroll, hut diil little racing until ho was acquired as a four-year-old by C. Jackwin. Now Plymouth. Altogether Aga Khan won 12 races, including the Egmont Cup and Nolan Cup at liawera. His winnings totalled £1921.

The committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club has decided to adopt the recommendation of the Pacing Conference that the minimum weight for tlat racVs at its November meeting should bo 7.7 excepting for the Now Zealand Cup, the conditions of which, providing for the usual 7.0 minimum, have already been approved and circulated. In Australia, where the minimum is 0.7, the racing authorities are being urged to raise the minimum to 7.0. George Phillips, known throughout Australia as Peter Pan's attendant, has decided to launch out as a trainer. Phillips was associated with F. McGrath's stable for about 28 years. He is starting oil' with a couple of young horses and will train at Victoria Park. Sydney. In his early career Phillips was a jockey in New Zealand. He gained distinction in the last 10 years as the attendant of the great performers Amounis and Peter Pan.
