WHANGAREI TEAM BEATEN VICTORY FOR MOUNT ALBERT The annual Rugby football match between Whangarei High School and Mount Albert Grammar School, as a curtain-raiser at Kden Park on Saturday afternoon, resulted in victory for Mount Albert by 39 points to l.'L There was little difference between the two teams, and most of the scoring was done through individual effort rather than combined plav. Kach side gained three tries, two of which were converted, but Mount Albert's success was due to two penalty goals. Takapuna Grammar School met King's College at Middlemore in continuation of the secondary schools' competition. With an advantage in weight, and playing much more strongly in the second spell, King's won by 20 points to 6.

FORWARDS AGAINST BACKS AN INTERESTING CONTEST The contest between Mount Albert Grammar School and W'hangarei High School resolved itself chiefly into a struggle between the Mount Albert forwards and the opposing backs. The scoring was opened by Prentice, who, receiving from a scrum, cut through beautifully and obtained a try between the posts. Kingstone converted. Eventually Whangarei's efforts were crowned by Kermode, who dived on the ball from a scramble on the line. Alison coaled.
