DAIRY FARM CONDITIONS
NEED FOR IMPROVEMENT VALUE OF ORGANISATION [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] HAWEItA, Wednesday Never before had there been greater need for the farmers to become organised than at present, said Mr. S. J. Bennett at the annual meeting of the Hawera Co-operative Dairy Company yesterday. Ho urged every dairyman to link up with the Farmers' Union and pointed out that in every other industry and organisation there was unity and strength. The farmers, who already had their own union, should stand shoulder to shoulder, in their own interests, said Mr. Bennett. He had heard the Prime Minister talk about increased farm production while the hours of work were being reduced for everyone except the farmer, he said. They would be onlv fcols if they continued to toil to the end of their days as they had done in the past and they should make things a little more pleasant on the farm. Mr. D. S. Richardson humorously suggested that perhaps Parliament could enact a provision for cows to cease lactation at each week-end. A Voice: Let's breed a new kind of cow.
