MOTORIST KILLED
CAR PLUNGES OVER BANK PINNED BENEATH VEHICLE [from our own corrf.spoxdext] HAMILTON, Tuesday A fatal motor accident occurred on the Morrinsville-Hamilton road between Eureka and Matangi last evening, when Mr. Harold Robinson Smith, aged 30, a share-milker, was killed. The deceased, who had been employed by Mr. L. V. Jtidd, of Matangi, had taken up a position on Mr. A. L. Yule's farm at Tahuna, Morrinsvillo. He was driving a five-seater heavy touring car through Eureka on his way to Matangi, and on leaving the main highway to join the Matangi road he missed the turning. The car fell over a steep bank and, after crossing a stream, overturned.
Mr. Robinson suffered fatal head injuries, and was pinned beneath the vehicle. The accident occurred shortly before eight o'clock last evening, but was not discovered until eight o'clock this morning. Death was probably instantaneous. The victim was a married man with two young children. He had worked on a number of farms in the Waikato.
An inquest was opened before the coroner, Mr F. W. Platts, to-day, and was adjourned.
