ENGLAND WINS AGAIN TARANAKI HEAVILY BEATEN VISITING FORWARD INJURED [I)V TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday In a fast, swiftly-changing game at Pukckura Park the touring English Rugby League team defeated the Taranaki representatives by 35 points (nine tries, four converted) to 4 (two penalty goals). The game was the first in which New Plymouth spectators had seen an English international thirteen in action and flic brilliance of attack and keen pitch of harmony in the backs and the dangerous quickly-breaking forwards impressed the 3000 people attending. All of England's tries, with tho exception of one, came from back movements, originated in several cases by fast raking forwards. Strengthened by three Auckland backs, Taranaki played a surprisingly good game, and, in spite of the scores bold almost even honours in territory. England secured the ball from practically every scrum and not only did Taranaki do well in smothering tackling, but its players were -always ready to turn defence into attack. A much lighter team in both departments, the home thirteen did not ease for a minute. Brough, Risman, Davies and Brogden were outstanding in the English rearguard and Troup, Exley and Ellerington were the pick of a great pack!. In the Taranaki team the Auckland fullback, Glover, gave an almost flawless display and Brimble gave a remarkable exhibition as first five-eighths. The Taranaki international, Hunt, and Tamatea were a tower of strength in the threequarters and Eraser and Tiplady were possibly the most prominent forwards. Silcock, the Widnes forward, broke a collarbone when getting off the train this morning and ho will not bo available for the test matches.
