HARRISVILLE HILL ROAD [from our own correspondent] TUAKAU. Tuesday Little hope for the granting of the Tuakau Town Board's request that the Harrisville Hill Road outlet from the town should be declared a highway was given by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. ]?. Sample, in a letter received at the monthly meeting of the board last evening. The Minister stated that the matter would not be dealt with until the Highways Board made its annual review. He added that it was unlikely that additional main highways would be declared, but legislation shortly to be introduced would provide for the arterial system being taken over by the State. It was reported by the chairman, J\l r. G. Arrowsmilh, that the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, was providing machinery for the removal of willows from the creek which flows through the company's factory property at Tuakau, as there was danger of the creek Hooding the near by road. The board was supplying the necessary labour, and, the work was already in progress. The chairman was appointed by the board as its representative to the conference to be held in Auckland next week to set up a provincial organisation to arrange for centenary celebrations. The board voted £lO to the Tuakau swimming pool committee.
