FEES AT HOSPITAL

REQUESTS FOR REDUCTION TREATMENT IN TAURANGA [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAURANGA, Tuesday A deputation representing Oddfellows, Druids and Foresters waited on the Tauranga Hospital Board to-day asking for the treatment in hospital of members of friendly societies at 4s 6d a day, the lodges to guarantee payments. The board's charge for patients is 12s a day. It was decided to defer the matter until the next meeting, and in the meantime to seek information from hospital boards which have agreements with friendly societies. It was also decided to ask the Health Department if legislation bearing on the matter is contemplated. Tho Public Works Employees' Medical Association, Napier, also asked for benefits for members by way of reduced fees. Tho association stated that it was prepared to pay 6s a day for adults and 3s for children.
