CASE ABANDONED IN PERTH ACQUITTED OF MANSLAUGHTER PERTH, July 18 The Crown Law Department of Western Australia has decided not to proceed with its charge against Cyril Thomas Brennan of having stolen JjaOOO worth of diamond rings from the shop of Caris Brothers, in Perth, in February, 1935, and he was released from custody. Brennan had served 11 months of a ]() years' sentence on a charge of having unlawfully killed Edgar Arthur Whitfield, caretaker of the shop. He appealed unsuccessfully to the Stato Court of Criminal Appeal against his conviction for manslaughter, but the High C ourt ordered a retrial, which ended in Brennan's acquittal this week. After the acquittal, Brennan was immediately rearrested on the charge which has now been withdrawn.
