DRAWN MATCH RESULTS AMATEURS V. PROFESSIONALS STEPHENSON'S FINE BOWLING LONDON, July 37 The two days' cricket match between the amateurs and professionals, which ended to-day at Lord's, resulted in a draw. " On Thursday the amateurs' first innings closed for 130, their opponents losing nine wickets for 176. The professionals' total was increased to „ 194 to-day, when Stephenson bowled Copson, thus obtaining the impressive figures of nine for 46. The amateurs declared their second innings closed at 195 for eight wickets, leaving the professionals with 132 to secure for a win. They reached about half tho number required for the loss of live wickets, when stumps were finally drawn. The wicket was lifeless, but the amateurs were unable to get on top of the bowlers. Pearce, however, batted with tine discrimination. Fames bowled splendidly in the professionals' second innings. After the match England's team to play India iu the second test match at Manchester, commencing on July 25, was selected. Dempster, defeated Yorkshire on the first innings by the small margin of five runs. W. E. Astill, the 1935 Leicestershire captain, took six wickets for 43 runs. An excellent double by X. F. Townsend of 115 and 78 not out Enabled Derbyshire to obtain a substantial victory over Kent. G. 0. Allen, who is suffering from a slight strain, decided to rest in view of the test match against the Indians on July 25 and did not captain Middlesex against Kent. The results of the games are:— .
