NGARUAWAHIA FUNCTION
RACING CLUB BALL The annual ball of the Ngaruawahia Racing Club has for some years held its position as one of the most popular social functions in the Waikato, and tho ball held on Thursday night was more than usually successful. The attendance was estimated to be about 400 people and nearly £IOO was taken at the door in addition to the tickets sold. The guests were received by Mrs. A. Sutherland, wife of the president, and Mrs. J. Cavanagh and Mrs. G. Jones, who acted as hostesses. The grand march was led by the president, Mr. A. Sutherland, and Mrs. Eyre, wife of tho Mayor, followed by the Mayor, Mr. Eyre, and Mrs. Sutherland, and mem'bers of the committee and their wives. In charge of lloor arrangements were Messrs. A. Paterson, D. Welch and W. Cavanagh. The music was rendered by a well-known Auckland orchestra, and tho catering was excellently carried out locally. The hall and the supper room were attractively decorated in the club's colours, blue and gold. Among those present were:—Mrs. A. S. Sutherland, who wore floral faille; Mrs. 11. Eyre, lace and georgette frock, coatee to match; Mrs. J. J. Cavanagh, black lace frock and black velvet coatee; Mrs. D. Welch, forest green crinkle crepe and white fur coat; Mrs. 11. McFarlane, orange ring velvet; Mrs. S. Johnson, blue metalasse and white fur coat; Mrs. W. H. Blewden, ivory tree bark silk; Mrs. W. McGruer, Burgundy velvet and cape to tone; Mrs. W. Waring, Marina green crepe; Mrs. H. G. Fleming, black tree bark satin; Mrs. Roy Cairney, silver lame and white fur coat; Mrs. F. Farrell, black lace and georgette; Mrs. H. Brunskill, midnight blue georgette; Mrs. Allan Scott, green taffetas; Mrs. 11. Tanfield, apricot marocain.
